Google released their bowser, Chrome, to the public today. The browser is in its beta stages, so there would be room for improvement. I decided to test the browser to see its potential. I downloaded the browser from the Chrome’s site. Right now, the browser runs on windows XP and Vista only (I am sure Google would update the browser to run on Mac OS). Google boasts that the browser is the fastest browser with Javascript. Google offered a site to test the speed of browser when running Javascript.

I compared the overall Javascript Speed for Chrome and other browsers. This is the result

Chrome is the fastest while IE 7 is the slowest. My laptop uses Window Vista. Chrome is fast. I also like the speed dial pages. It is like Opera browser instead, it shows the websites you just visited. Opera’s speed dial are you favorite pages i.e you set them yourself. Chrome will be good for using Google’s products.

My problem with Chrome is that it takes more space on my hard drive then Firefox. Firefox 3 takes 24.8 Mb and Chrome takes 46.5 MB. The other problem I have with Chrome is that it distorts my blog. If I view my blog on Chrome, my header looks broken. Well, since Chrome is in its beta stages, it will be improved.
